REIMAGINING INDUSTRIAL INFRASTRUCTURE FOR CULTURAL USE
S FACTORY is located within a former industrial warehouse complex in central Seoul, repositioned as a platform for cultural programming, events, and creative activity. The project explores how existing industrial structures can be retained and reactivated, preserving material character and scale while enabling contemporary use.
Rather than erasing the site’s industrial past, the intent was to leverage its raw spatial qualities as an asset, allowing history, texture, and volume to inform a new identity rooted in authenticity and flexibility.

DESIGNING FOR FLEXIBILITY, SCALE, AND PROGRAM DIVERSITY
The spatial approach prioritizes adaptability over prescription. Large-format volumes, exposed structure, and minimal intervention allow the environment to support a wide range of uses from exhibitions and brand activations to performances, installations, and private events.
Circulation, zoning, and infrastructure were considered to accommodate changing program needs while maintaining clarity of movement and operational efficiency. The result is an experience that feels open-ended, industrial, and distinctly urban—encouraging creative interpretation rather than enforcing a fixed narrative.

A CULTURAL PLATFORM WITHIN SEOUL’S CREATIVE ECOSYSTEM
S FACTORY functions as more than a venue; it operates as an urban platform that supports Seoul’s evolving creative and cultural ecosystem. By enabling temporary, rotating, and experimental programming, the project demonstrates how adaptive reuse can extend the life and relevance of industrial assets within dense cities.
Its value lies in flexibility, longevity, and the ability to attract diverse audiences.
