How We Work
We use AI the way a good studio uses any tool. To do more thinking before committing. Not to replace designers, but to give them more to work with, earlier.
We know the concerns. AI in creative work is often poorly applied, used to cut corners, generate generic output, or replace thinking rather than support it. That is not how we use it.
At Moongate, AI enters the process at the earliest stages, where exploration is most valuable and the cost of being wrong is lowest. It expands the field of what we consider. Our designers still make every call.
Instead of arriving with two concepts, we arrive with ten. AI lets us cover more ground in less time, which means better decisions get made earlier in the process.
Once a direction is chosen, we test variations quickly. Different forms, different moods, different materials. What used to take days now takes hours. The quality of the final outcome goes up.
Showing a client a spatial concept early removes ambiguity from the conversation. AI visualization gets everyone looking at the same thing sooner, which makes alignment faster and revisions fewer.
The Process
Brief
We establish what the project needs to achieve for the people who experience it.
AI Phase
AI produces a wide field of spatial and formal options based on the brief. Volume, not answers.
Design
Our designers review everything and decide what is worth pursuing. Nothing moves forward without human judgment.
CAD / SketchUp
Selected directions become precise, buildable designs using technical tools.
Production
Final design goes into production. Specification, coordination, delivery.
Every decision in this process is made by a Moongate designer. AI generates material for consideration at steps 2 and 4. The tool does not determine the outcome. The team does.
Moongate is an experience design company. The work we deliver is spatial, physical, and built to be felt. No AI output ends up in a built project without a designer making a deliberate decision about it.
What AI changes is the quality of the early conversation. More options explored. Fewer assumptions made. Better decisions reached, sooner. That is its role here, and nothing more.
